The installation process is as follows:
- Insert the remote control.
- Do not let the remote control's connecting line hang loosely.
- Unwind the winch rope, and use the remote control to release a bit of the rope before opening the hook on the side of the winch.
- Open the clutch. Note that the clutch must only be opened after the hook is opened.
- Hold the rope hook with one hand. When pulling the rope off the drum, keep one hand on the hook, so no matter how long you pull the rope, the hook will still be within reach.
- After pulling the rope to the support point, lock the clutch.

Next comes fixing the support. Regardless of the type of winch used, if there is no secure support point, its potential cannot be fully utilized. In other words, fixing the support is a crucial step when using the winch. Additionally, a strap is needed to connect the winch, support, rope hook, and U-shaped lifting eye. If the winch does not have enough power to pull a heavy object with a single line, double lines are needed to enhance its strength, in which case a tensioning pulley is also required. Another point to note is when using a tree as the support point, the widest part of the strap should be used to prevent the strap from cutting into the tree bark and damaging the tree. Also, the two ends of the strap should be tied on either side of the lifting eye, and the lengths of both sides should be equal.

Then, start the dragging process. The specific steps for dragging with an electric winch are as follows:
- First, check the drum.
- If the rope comes loose, prevent it from swinging back and forth. If the rope breaks, the swinging rope can be very dangerous. However, this danger can be avoided by placing a cushion on the taut rope.
- Begin dragging. If you are using the rope to pull your own car and plan to drive the car at the same time, it is best to have someone outside the car help you.
- If the rope gets tangled, be sure to untangle it. The rope can easily cross over itself or become uneven on one side when winding onto the drum. Therefore, pay close attention to its condition.
- Once the vehicle is free to move, the dragging is complete. After returning to flat ground, check the condition of both the vehicle and the rope.
- Roll up the rope carefully and tighten it.
- Finally, secure the hook. When only a little rope is left, tie the hook to the side of the winch. Then, roll up the remaining rope and secure the hook.
- Remove the remote control.
