How to Install an Electric Winch

2025-07-11

There are many types of winches, including electric winches, winches driven by the mechanical power of the car engine, and winches operated by hydraulic pumps. The most commonly used by off-roaders is the electric winch. The electric winch gets power from the car itself to drive the motor to drive the winch. This type of winch is very convenient because it can be operated by standing anywhere and using the knob on the remote control.

How to Install an Electric Winch - 1
  1. Insert the remote control. Insert the end of the remote control cable into the winch.
  2. Do not let the remote control cable hang down. If you are a driver and operate the remote control in the driver's seat, it will be much more convenient to work by wrapping the excess cable around the side mirror of the car.
  3. Pull the noose, use the remote control to release the noose a little and then open the noose hook installed on the side of the winch.
  4. Open the clutch. Note that you must open the hook before opening the clutch.
  5. Hold the noose hook with your hand. When pulling the noose off the drum, hold the hook with one hand so that no matter how long the noose is pulled, it will not be out of reach.
  6. After pulling the noose to the fulcrum, lock the clutch.
