Stage Batten Winch 300kg Theatre Winch 4-Rope | KLD

Stage batten winch (theatre winch) rated 300 kg with SEW VFD motor, worm gearbox with self-locking, double electromagnetic brake, encoder, mechanical limiter and PLC control. Single-drum multi-rope fixed outlet, 18 m stroke, 15 cm/s.

An efficient, safe winch designed for stage hoisting — a common and important piece of stage machinery that provides flexible spatial layouts and visual effects for performances. Single-drum winding design achieves multi-rope fixed-position outlet for flexible rigging solutions. SEW VFD motor, worm gearbox with self-locking, double electromagnetic brake, encoder, mechanical limiter and PLC control. Rated 300 kg.

Quick Specs

Rated load: 300 kg
Motor: 0.75 kW SEW VFD motor
Rope speed: 15 cm/s
Stroke: 18 m
Rope: 4 × Ø4 mm (four outgoing ropes)
Brake: double electromagnetic
Control: PLC + encoder + mechanical limiter

Application Scenarios and Applicable Boundaries

- Stage hoisting — batten and scenery lifting for theatres, studios and performance venues, providing flexible spatial layouts.
- Multi-rope rigging — four fixed-position rope outlets from one drum support balanced rigging of battens and loads.
- Automated stage control — PLC-programmable control with encoder supports repeatable, automated stage movements.
- Space-constrained venues — compact footprint for installation in stage machinery spaces.

Boundary: The standard configuration is for stage equipment lifting; confirm the load, rope arrangement, duty cycle and environment before ordering. It is not intended for personnel lifting.

Features Benefits

Flexible multi-rope rigging — The single-drum winding design achieves multi-rope fixed-position outlet, improving rigging flexibility for stage layouts.
Self-locking against descent — The worm gearbox with self-locking holds the position securely when stopped, helping prevent descent caused by gravity or external force and enhancing safety.

Size Installation and System Interface

The winch is supplied on a base frame with pre-drilled mounting holes for installation in stage machinery spaces. Overall dimensions, mounting orientation and rope outlet positions are confirmed on the general arrangement drawing after configuration approval.

Available interfaces include: motor power terminals, VFD control, double electromagnetic brake control, encoder output, mechanical limiter contacts, PLC communication and optional pendant remote or wireless remote. Electrical interfaces are defined in the final wiring diagram.

Control Safety and Protection

- Normal control: PLC-programmable control with VFD; supports automated stage sequences.
- Stopping & holding: double electromagnetic brake responds quickly in emergencies, supporting safe stopping and holding; worm-gear self-locking holds the position when stopped.
- Travel protection: mechanical limiter with flexibly set upper/lower limits; limit switch included.
- Positioning: encoder provides precise position feedback for accurate positioning and stable operation.
- Environment: confirm temperature range and site conditions before ordering.

Standard vs optional items are confirmed on the control scheme for each order.

Customization Options and Engineering Process

Configured around your operating conditions — Share the required line pull, rope travel, operating speed, duty cycle, power supply, installation envelope and environment. KLD will review the application and provide a proposed configuration, technical drawing and quotation for approval. Free design schematics are provided for different scenarios.

Standards Testing and Quality

The company operates an ISO 9001 quality management system. CE conformity documents (LVD, EMC) are available for applicable configurations on request. Classification certificates (e.g. LRS / BV / ABS / DNV GL) can be arranged as an optional item for marine applications.

Factory testing follows the approved technical specification for each configured unit and may include: no-load run, rated-load operation, brake function, limiter function and control verification. Available documentation may include dimensional drawings, electrical diagrams, inspection records and functional test results, depending on project scope.

Engineering Cases

Challenge: A theatre required a compact winch for batten and scenery hoisting — four synchronized rope outlets, precise positioning, reliable stopping and automated stage control.
Solution: A stage batten winch (300 kg class) with SEW VFD motor, worm gearbox with self-locking, double electromagnetic brake, encoder, mechanical limiter and PLC control, configured for the venue.
Outcome: The winch passed the customer's functional acceptance procedure for the planned stage duties.

Delivery Packaging and Lifecycle Support

Most winches are custom-made products; lead time is confirmed after technical approval and order review. Project support can include configuration review, drawing approval, factory testing, export packaging, remote commissioning support and recommended spare parts. On-site measurement and installation support are available for applicable projects.
  • What information is required to select the winch?

Please provide the required load, stroke, rope speed, number of rope outlets, control preference and environment. A sketch or site photo can help our engineers confirm the configuration.

  • How many ropes can the winch handle?

The reference configuration has four outgoing ropes from a single drum with fixed-position outlets.

  • How is safety ensured for stage loads?

Double electromagnetic brakes, worm-gear self-locking, mechanical limiter, limit switch and encoder provide multi-layer protection for stage loads.

  • Can the winch be automated?

Yes. PLC-programmable control with encoder supports repeatable, automated stage movements.
